Two wounded in Macon's latest shooting

Two people are wounded following Macon's latest shooting in what appears to be an ongoing gang conflict in the city.

At about 10:40 p.m. Wednesday officers responded to Mercer University Drive at North Atwood where a man told police three boys walked up behind him and shot him in the chest, said Macon police Sgt. Tim James.

At about 2 a.m. today another man showed up at the emergency room of The Medical Center of Central Georgia with a gunshot wound to the hip saying the other victim wounded him, James said.

Detectives are trying to sort out what exactly happened in the incident and whether it is related to any of the prior shootings that have plagued the city the past two weeks.

One veteran officer said he has never seen this much blood spilled in the city in such a short period of time.

Police expect to release more details later today. Come back to for updates.
