The Bibb County Commission adopted an increased business occupation tax rate Tuesday night, bringing the rate in line with the city of Macon.
Beginning Jan. 1, the business occupation tax rate will increase from $30 per employee to $39 per employee. The administrative fee per business will increase from $50 to $65. No one spoke at the public hearing prior to the tax rate's adoption.
Commissioners approved the increase unanimously.
The business occupation tax, also known as a business license fee, is what businesses pay to operate in the unincorporated part of the county. The last increase in the tax rate was 2003, officials said.
