Bibb County sheriff's deputies are investigating an attempted armed robbery earlier today on Westwood Circle in south Macon.
A man told police he was walking to his vehicle at about 6:50 a.m. when a man dressed in all black and a hooded shirt approached him and demanded money, according to a sheriff's office report.
The assailant reportedly told the man, "I'm about to rob you."
The victim ran across the street, followed by the robber, and the two men began to struggle in front of a residence in the 200 block of Westwood Circle.

The man reported that the assailant displayed a black handgun, which began to discharge during the fight.
The man was able to break free of the assailant, who continued his demands for money, before the man ran to his residence.
The robber fired two gun shots in the air and fled the scene on foot toward the 100 block of Westwood Circle, according to the report.
No injuries were reported. Authorities recovered shell casings at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
