East Macon home destroyed in fire

Investigators haven't determined what caused a house fire today at 3309 Majestic Lane, but have ruled out arson. Macon-Bibb fire officials are still on the scene. They were called out at 2 p.m. to the two-story home in east Macon which was completely destroyed by the blaze.

"It's a little bit unusual to have a structure completely collapse like this," said District Fire Chief Cliff Rushin.

The owner of the house, 78-year-old Nettie L. Thomas, was home with two other people when the fire started. No one was injured.

Officials believe the fire started in the basement.
