UPDATE: Faulty wiring likely cause of south Macon house fire

Macon-Bibb fire Capt. Tom Musselwhite said the cause of a house fire this afternoon in south Macon was electrical.

The fire at 1088 Sylvan Drive started at 1:44 p.m. causing extensive damage to the single family home off Houston Avenue.

District Fire Chief James Wallace said it appears the fire started in a room in the rear of the house. No one was home when it started. The fire has been extinguished.
