Bibb County authorities are responding to a possible drowning off Arkwright Road in the northern part of the county.
Search teams are looking for signs of Markeiss Williams, 26, of Treadway Drive in Macon, according to Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones.
At about 3 p.m., authorities received a 911 call about Williams, who had disappeared in the Ocmulgee River. A group of teenagers had been swimming with Williams, according to Bibb County Sheriff's Lt. George Meadows.
The teenagers said they tried to rescue Williams, who got into trouble when he either slipped or got caught in the current, Meadows said.

Rescue workers have assembled next to railroad tracks near the river. Divers from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office and Macon-Bibb Fire and Rescue were searching the river for signs of the man.
Meadows said that the last time someone drowned in the Ocmulgee River in Bibb County was May 7, 2005, near the Lower Poplar Street entrance.
