Macon man dies after Forsyth Road wreck

A Macon man is dead following a vehicular accident near the intersection of Forsyth Road and Tucker Road shortly before 2:30 p.m., according to a Macon police news release.

Donald Beaty, 84, was traveling north in the southbound lane on Forsyth Road when he ran a red light at Tucker Road and struck a silver 1998 Ford Escort driven by 25-year-old Ashley Wooley of Macon, witnesses said.

Beaty, who was driving a white 2000 Lincoln Town Car, was pronounced dead at 2:45 p.m., Bibb County coroner Leon Jones said.

"He had no visible injuries, which makes me believe it was a medical-related problem that caused him to have the wreck," Jones said.

Wooley was traveling west on Tucker Road and was crossing Forsyth Road at the time of the accident.

She was transported to The Medical Center of Central Georgia with injuries, including a fractured right ankle.

Beaty lived in the Carlyle Place retirement community off Zebulon Road.

An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday in Atlanta, Jones said.

The accident remains under investigation by Macon police.
