Bibb County school officials made sweeping changes in plans this afternoon in order to finish out the school year in the wake of Sunday's tornadoes.
Westside High School students will attend the campus of Rutland High and Middle for the remainder of the school year, sharing the school on a rotating basis with Rutland students, Bibb school officials decided today.
Westside seniors who will need to take an End of Course Test Wednesday will report to Rutland High. Southwest High School seniors who will need to take an End of Course Test are to report to Vineville Academy on Wednesday morning. There is no school Wednesday for the rest of Southwest's students.
Meanwhile, 13 other schools across the county will be closed until their problems are resolved.
Rutland High School students will attend Rutland today and on May 16, 19 and 21. Westside students will have school at Rutland on May 15, 17, 20 and 22.
Schools closed on Wednesday include: Westside High (except for seniors), Southwest High (except for seniors), Ballard-Hudson Middle, Bloomfield Middle, Ingram-Pye Elementary, Barden Elementary, Burghard Elementary, Rice Elementary, Morgan Elementary, Union Elementary, Butler Early Childhood Center, and Neel Academy.
Westside High School will begin classes Thursday at Rutland. At Renaissance Academy, only seniors attend Wednesday.
Open Wednesday are: Central High, Miller Middle, Alexander II , Brookdale, Burke, Vineville Academy, Williams Elementary, Hutchings Career Academy, Northeast High, Appling Middle, Bernd, Burdell-Hunt, Jones, King-Danforth, Rutland High, Rutland Middle, Bruce, Heard, Porter, Skyview, Hartley, Howard Middle , Carter, Lane, Springdale, Taylor, Weaver Middle, Heritage, Riley, and Elam Alexander.
Bus transportation to some schools may be affected where road access is limited.
