Two high school seniors from Houston County tied for the region's STAR student award during a dinner banquet tonight at Macon State College.
Among 21 Middle Georgia counties, the Region 6 winners were Beth Boyd of Houston County High School and Dallas Michelbacher, a senior at Northside High School in Warner Robins, who tied with the highest SAT score from one sitting.
Both scored 2340 on the test out of a 2400 possible.
Boyd and Michelbacher will now compete for the state STAR student title April 30 in Atlanta.
The Student Teacher Achievement Recognition award is sponsored by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators and judges students based on their SAT scores, class ranking, teacher recommendations, an essay and interviews, according to a news release.
