The Bibb County Commission will host the first of two community forums tonight to gather input from Bibb residents who would be affected by the city's proposal to annex unincorporated property into the city of Macon.
Tonight's forum is scheduled for 7 at Carter Elementary School on Zebulon Road. Another forum will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at East Macon Recreation Center on Ocmulgee East Boulevard.
Commission Chairman Charlie Bishop said in a news release last week that the forum will allow residents in the areas to speak for or against the annexation proposal.
Citing numerous telephone calls, e-mails and other inquiries from residents about annexation, Bishop said the forums will allow commissioners to hear firsthand what "the people" think about Reichert's proposal. Then, he added, the commission can pass along the remarks made at the forum to the state legislators, who could ultimately decide the fate of the annexation proposal.
