Middle Georgians should be on the lookout this morning for heavy rain and severe thunderstorms.
The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Bibb, Crawford, Monroe and Taylor that will remain in effect until 9:15 a.m.
The weather service earlier had issued a severe thunderstorm watch for much of Middle Georgia. Counties in the affected area include Baldwin, Bibb, Bleckley, Butts, Crawford, Crisp, Dodge, Dooly, Houston, Jasper, Jones, Laurens, Lamar, Monore, Montgomery, Peach, Pulaski, Putnam, Taylor, Telfair, Twiggs, Upson, Wheeler and Wilcox.
The weather service reports that the band of storms has the potential to produce pea-sized hail, frequent lightning, heavy downpours and wind gusts up to 45 mph.
