Macon Rep. Allen Peake was named a Republican deputy whip late Wednesday, Peake said.
Peake’s duties will include canvassing Republican representatives to learn how they intend to vote on bills, and conveying the leadership’s position.
“It provides another opportunity for me to get my views expressed,” Peake said.
Peake replaces Ed Setzler, R-Acworth. He joins Rep. Allen Freeman, R-Macon, as one of 13 Republican deputy whips. The deputies are appointed by the Republican whip, Rep. Barry Fleming, R-Harlem, who was elected by the Republican caucus.
