The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch in effect until 2 p.m. for more than 50 Georgia counties in northwest and central parts of the state.
The storm system that spawned deadly tornadoes in Arkansas, Kentucky and Tennessee is tracking east.
Middle Georgia counties in the watch include Bibb, Butts, Crawford, Crisp, Dooly, Houston, Jasper, Jones, Lamar, Macon, Monroe, Peack, Sumpter,Taylor and Upson.
A tornado watch means weather conditions are favorable for creating tornadoes or other severe weather.
