Telegraph publisher P.J. Browning leaving Macon

Pamela "P.J." Browning is leaving her position as publisher of The Telegraph and after the first of the year.

Employees were notified this morning by Jim Daugherty, regional human resource director for The Telegraph and the Ledger-Enquirer in Columbus.

Browning, who was named publisher here in January 2005, has been named publisher of the Myrtle Beach (S.C.) Sun-News. She was in Myrtle Beach this morning where she was being introduced to the staff there, Daugherty said.

Browning will remain as publisher here until Jan. 4. A new publisher is expected to be named by mid-January, but it could take longer, he said.

Browning serves on several civic boards in Macon and is chairwoman of this year's United Way of Central Georgia fund-raising campaign. It was unclear early today what effect her departure will have on the campaign.
