CORDELE -- The Wilcox County Patriots couldn't corral Emmanuel County Institute's speedy runningback in the first half of Friday night's GHSA Class A State Championship at Crisp County's Cougar Den, and the team trailed ECI at halftime, 26-7.
ECI's Washaun Ealey got the Bulldogs on the scoreboard early in the game when he scampered in to the endzone on a 7-yard touchdown run to cap a nine-carry, 50-yard performance on his team's opening possession.
Wilcox County's only score came with four minutes remaining in the half, as runningback Antonio Marshall had a one-yard touchdown run.
The game was moved from Wilcox's County Donnie Clack Stadium this week because both team's sold more than twice the amount of seats that the 2,000 seat stadium could hold.
