A Cochran man died late Monday afternoon after pulling a log truck into the path of an oncoming train south of Chauncey in Dodge County.
For some reason, 64-year-old Newell Kitchens did not stop for the Norfolk Southern train at the crossing on U.S. 341 at about 4:30 p.m., said Georgia State Patrol communications equipment officer Jeremy Maybin.
After the train hit the middle of the log truck, the trailing cars wound up on a different track at the crossing, Maybin said.
The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident.
