ATLANTA - Georgia Tech basketball star Thaddeus Young will forgo his remaining college eligibility and keep his name in the NBA Draft, a spokesman said Monday morning.
Young, a 6-foot-8 forward, declared himself eligible for the draft in April but did not hire an agent, which would have allowed him to remain a Yellow Jacket. He had until 5 p.m. Monday to make a final decision.
Young has worked out for several NBA teams in recent weeks and was traveling for another workout Monday morning, making him unavailable for comment. Most NBA draft analysts project him as a mid-first round pick and possibly among the first 14 selections, the so-called lottery picks.
Young led the Yellow Jackets in scoring last season along with fellow freshman Javaris Crittenton. A point guard, Crittenton announced last month he would remain in the draft.
