Traffic is flowing again down southbound lanes of Interstate 475 after a truck accident and diesel spill closed the highway for nearly five hours.
Azem Jakupaj of St. Petersburg, Fla. said a vehicle forced him off the road when he lost control and flipped the rig at about 5:20 a.m.
Diesel fuel spilling from the truck onto the highway had to be removed and the truck had to be uprighted and cleared from the road before Bibb County deputies reopened the highway at about 10 a.m.
Jakupaj said he was hauling about 37,000 pounds of canned goods from Missouri to Plant City, Fla., when the accident happened.
