Attorney arguments may heard this afternoon in Houston murder trial

Prosecution and defense arguments may be heard this afternoon in the trial of a Jones County couple accused of murder in the 2005 death of a Kathleen woman.

Attorneys began jury selection this morning in the Houston County Superior Court trial of James John Carter, 36, and his wife, Valerie Johnson Carter, 55, who live near Gray.

The body of Debra Ann Coley, 51, was discovered at 7 a.m. March 13, 2005 in the front yard of her Blackberry Circle home.

The woman's death was believed to have been related to a drug overdose, and the Carters are accused of supplying and administering the drug to the woman, sheriff's investigator Lt. Jon Holland previously said.
