Shortly after 6 a.m., a fire destroyed a doublewide mobile home at 129 Everette Circle in Jeffersonville.
Neighbors reported hearing explosions that could have been ammunition or aerosol cans inside the house, firefighters said. It took a three-man crew from the Jeffersonville Fire Department about two hours to put out the fire, which destroyed the house.
Fredrick Anderson said the fire appeared to have started in his bedroom in the rear of the house, where he said he kept a pistol in the closet. No one was at home at the time of the fire, Anderson said. The state fire marshal's office has been called to investigate the cause of the fire, said the dispatcher from the Twiggs County Sheriff's Office.
