A Dodge County infant has survived an accidental shooting Tuesday by her 3-year-old brother.
The 8-month-old girl was in a playpen at her home in Rhine when her brother stumbled upon an old .22-caliber rifle and shot her, said Lt. James Atkins of the Dodge County Sheriff's Office.
The girl was taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia following the midday incident.
"Surgery was performed last night," Atkins said. "The baby's OK. It was a through-and-through gunshot wound. It hit no vital organs."

The hospital this morning said it would not release information about the girl's condition.
The shooting remains under investigation, Atkins said. Criminal charges are pending against the parents, he said.
