Date cookies

2 cups flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup sugar

3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter, melted

3 eggs, beaten

1 cup chopped dates

1 cup chopped walnuts

Makes 4 dozen.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Into bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, cardamom and salt; set aside.

In large mixing bowl, mix thoroughly the sugar, butter and eggs; gradually add dry ingredients until a soft dough forms. Stir in dates and walnuts.

Place heaping teaspoons of dough an inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake in preheated oven 15 minutes or until cookies turn golden brown. Remove and let cool before serving.
