1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
1/2 cup dried apple, chopped
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup paprika
1 cinnamon stick
1 bay leaf
Combine first 4 ingredients and blend well. Stir in apple and cream cheese. Chill 30 minutes. Shape into a tight ball. Put paprika into a gallon-size zip-top bag. Add cheeseball and shake gently to coat completely with paprika. Transfer to a serving plate or platter. Cover and chill at least 1 hour or up to 3 days before serving. Just before serving, using your finger, make an indentation in center top of apple. Insert cinnamon stick in indentation (apple stem) and then insert the bay leaf next to the stem (apple leaf). Serve with a selection of hearty crackers and sliced breads.
