Impossible apple and cream pie

3 1/2 cups sliced apples (about 4 medium)

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 cup heavy cream

2 eggs

3/4 cup sugar

2/3 cup baking mix, such as Bisquick

For pecan strusel:

2 tablespoons cold butter

1/4 cup baking mix

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1/3 cup chopped pecans

Makes 10 servings.

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Grease a 10-inch pie plate or 11-by-7-inch baking pan.

Pat apple slices dry, sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg and toss. Pack evenly into pan. Beat cream, eggs, sugar and baking mix until smooth. Pour over apples.

Make the streusel by mashing the butter into the baking mix and brown sugar with a fork until crumbly. Mix in pecans. Sprinkle evenly over the apples and cream. Bake until knife inserted in center comes out clean, 40 to 45 minutes.
