Candy cane brownies Gift -- (In-A-Jar)

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate morsels

1 cup coarsely crushed candy canes or hard peppermint candies

1 cup sugar

3/4 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup cocoa powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

In a quart-size canning jar, place chocolate chips, then crushed candy. Combine remaining ingredients in a zip-top plastic bag. Seal shut. Shake to combine well. Transfer dry ingredients to canning jar (pack it in there!) Give along with the following instructions:

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease an 8-inch square baking dish. In a medium mixing bowl, blend together 1/2 cup vegetable or canola oil with 3 large eggs and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Empty jar contents into mixing bowl. Blend well. Pour batter in prepared pan. Bake 25 minutes. Place pan on cooling rack. When thoroughly cooled, cut into squares and enjoy!


1 quart-size canning jar

3 (1.2 oz.) envelopes instant oatmeal with maple & brown sugar

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

3/4 cup sugar

3/4 cup chopped pecans

1/4 cup dried buttermilk powder

2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

In the work bowl of a food processor fitted with the chopping blade, combine all ingredients. Operate (in pulses) until pecans are roughly chopped. Transfer to a one-quart size canning jar - pack it in there! Seal jar shut with led and metal screw-on band. Store at room temperature for up to 2 months. Give along with directions for making the muffins.


Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In a medium mixing bowl, blend together 1 cup sour cream, 1/2 cup water, and 2 eggs. Add muffin package contents. Stir briefly to incorporate ingredients. Do not over mix. Divide equally into a greased standard size muffin tin. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until muffins test done when a toothpick is inserted in center. Makes 1 dozen.
