HOUSTON COUNTY FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY OLD BOOK SALE

10 a.m.-8 p.m. April 30, 9 a.m.-8 p.m. May 1, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. May 2, Georgia Grown Building, Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter, Perry. “CIRCLES WITH SHEL”

11 a.m. May 9, the Platforms at Coleman Hill, 285 Spring St. Celebrate the poetry of Shel Silverstein that inspired the “Circles” sculptures of Coleman Hill. Free coffee and doughnuts. All ages are welcome. Hosted by the College Hill Alliance and Mount de Sales Key Club. 478-621-4420. Free.

PRIME TIME PRESCHOOL

Peach public libraries are seeking families with children ages 3-5 to participate in a series of programs focusing on literacy acquisition and early literacy skills. Parents of preschoolers will learn how to book-share with their children, how to ask questions that encourage critical thinking, how to make reading enjoyable and relevant, and how to encourage children to internalize a love of learning. A series of six programs will be offered each Monday evening at Thomas Public Library beginning in late April. During each program, each family will receive a free books. MACON WRITERS GROUP
