1 pound ground beef
1 envelope dry onion soup mix or 1 cup chopped onion
2 cans (16 ounces each) pork and beans
1 (16 ounce) can Northern, butter or lima beans
1 (16 ounce) can kidney beans
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon dry mustard or 1 tablespoon prepared mustard
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
Smoked sausage (optional)
Cook meat in 1/2 cup water until no longer pink, breaking up larger pieces. Drain. Pour into Dutch oven or oven-proof casserole dish.
Stir in soup mix or onion, pork and beans, butter beans, kidney beans, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire and tomato sauce. Add optional ingredients as desired, such as sliced smoked sausage. Bake, covered, for 1 hour at 350 degrees. Remove cover and bake an additional 20 to 30 minutes. Makes 20 servings.
