Much of the stuff that ought to be new this weekend are reruns or pre-empted because of the holiday.
If you go out to celebrate this weekend, July 4th usually has the highest rate of accidents involving drunk driving in cars and boats, so be careful out there.
WEEKEND'S BEST BETS: Fortunately, one thing that is new is "Friday Night Lights" (NBC, 8 p.m.), which continues another stellar year. There's also a new "Flashpoint" (CBS, 9 p.m.), followed by "Miami Medical" at 10 p.m.
"Merlin" (SyFy, 10 p.m.) wraps up its second season after an all-day marathon.
On Saturday, CBS burns off "Three Rivers" at 8 p.m., while ABC does the same for "The Forgotten" at 10 p.m.
On Sunday, HBO is pre-empting all of its new shows that have just premiered. You can, however, catch up on the first three episodes of "True Blood" beginning at 9 p.m.
