IF YOU AREN'T CAUGHT UP THROUGH LAST WEEK'S EPISODE OF "LOST," SKIP TO THE END.
For weeks now, the internet has been abuzz of "Lost's" (ABC, 9 p.m.) 15th episode of the season -- also the antepenultimate episode of the series.
For one thing, it's supposed to reveal certain mysteries of the island. For another, it reveals what Fake Locke (Terry O'Quinn) has been up to, and why. For a third, almost none of the regular cast members appear, at least according to the rumors.
Most importantly, it's supposed to give us background about Jacon (Mark Pellegrino) and the Man In Black (Titus Welliver), Fake Locke's true form when he isn't Fake Locke-ing it.
All ABC would reveal about the episode are two clips. In one, a blond child and a dark-haired child, both about 10 years old, are hunting a boar on the island when they encounter strangers. Is it Jacob and the Man In Black? Who knows?
In the second, a woman (Allison Janney) renders aid to a very familiar character who isn't being played by the actress best-known for playing her. Sound confusing? It won't be once you see it. ABC is so secretive that's Janney's character is given the name of "Woman." Real helpful.
Most of the show's insiders have said Episode 15, title "Across the Sea," is perhaps the most unique episode of this unique series, pushing the show to new dramatic limits.
Meanwhile, "Lost" has been rolling, moving the plot of the island at an extremely brisk pace despite the trips to the sideways universe. During last week, we seemingly lost four popular mainstays -- Sayid, performing one final noble act despite the evil growing inside him; Frank Lapidus, in the wrong place at the exact wrong moment; and Jin and Sun, losing each other so soon after finding each other in the most heartbreaking moment of the series.
The four survivors of the sub -- Jack, Hurley, an injured Sawyer and a wounded Kate -- have barely made it back to the island, seemingly at Fake Locke's mercy.
One thing to look forward to is the finale, which has been extended to two-and-a-half hours on a special night of May 23, with a special edition of "The Jimmy Kimmel Show" to follow. Kimmel will air three alternate "Lost" endings and chat with cast members Naveen Andrews, Nestor Carbonell, Alan Dale, Jeremy Davies, Michael Emerson, Matthew Fox, Emilie de Ravin, Daniel Dae Kim, Terry O'Quinn and Harold Perrineau, with special appearances from Jorge Garcia, Josh Holloway and Evageline Lilly.
It's hard to believe that it's ending so soon.
TUESDAY'S BEST BETS: Following "Lost" is a new "V" at 10 p.m., in which Anna (Morena Baccarin) takes an extreme action with her daughter (Lauren Vandevoort) to set up the Fifth Column.
Alicia has to make a key compromise in order to keep her job on "The Good Wife" (CBS, 10 p.m.), following new episodes of "NCIS" and "NCIS: LA."
The contestants perform famous movie tunes on "American Idol," (Fox, 8 p.m.), followed by a new "Glee."
A new "Parenthood" (NBC, 10 p.m.) follows "The Biggest Loser." Meanwhile, there's a new "90210" (CW, 8 p.m.)
On cable, "Justified" (FX, 10 p.m.) is brand-new.
