Holiday Weekend Best Bets

Here's hoping for a happy and safe 4th weekend, loyal dozens.

Though most people will be spending their weekends outdoors or out of town, there are still some decent viewing options for the holiday.

Tonight there's a new "Mental" (Fox, 9 p.m.), while ABC burns off its remaining "Goode Family" episodes at 8:30 p.m.

On Saturday, if you want something patriotic, NBC as the "Macy's Fireworks" show at 8 p.m., while CBS has the Boston Pops concert and fireworks at 10 p.m.

There's also some good TV with the next-to-last "Eli Stone" (ABC, 10 p.m.)

On Sunday, if you have missed the first three episodes of "True Blood" this season, HBO is rerunning them.

Lancelot makes his first appearance on "Merlin" (NBC, 8 p.m.)

PBS follows its Hercule Poirot revival with a new set of "Miss Marple" mysteries, beginning at 9 p.m.
