MTV -- remember when they used to play music? -- launches a new reality show tonight called "16 & Pregnant" at 10 p.m.
Unlike its other insipid reality shows, this one appears to have some merit, giving teenagers a look as to what life is like when you are a teenager and knocked up. Based upon early reviews of the show, the network isn't glamorizing the situation at all; rather, it is showing the very real hardships pregnant teens (and the baby daddies) go through.
The show has gotten endorsements from some family groups about its realistic portrayal of such situations.
With the continued problem of teen pregnancy growing in this country and religious groups blocking sex education in public schools, the show might be the perfect means in getting the message out there that teens might want to think twice before engaging in unprotected sex.
THURSDAY'S BEST BETS: Game 4 of the NBA Finals tips off tonight at 9 p.m. on ABC.
NBC's "The Listener" is all-new at 10 p.m., though I have to say, I stopped listening and watching midway through the second episode.
"Burn Notice" (USA, 9 p.m.) is all-new tonight, as is "Royal Pains" at 10 p.m.
