The first thing we noticed about Chevy’s Pizza, just off Gray Highway once you get into Gray, was that the 8-inch pizza is a steal. For less than $5, you can get your choice of 10 specialty pizzas loaded with toppings and more than enough to share. The second thing we noticed was the place was hopping -- even on a Monday night.
Almost all of our choices consisted of a thin crust with Chevy’s own sauce, mozzarella and at least three toppings. The Fully Loaded comes with pepperoni, sausage, onions, mushrooms, olives and bell peppers, at only $3.95 for an 8-inch, $13.95 for the 12-inch, and $15.95 for the 16-inch. The 12- and 16-inch prices were similar to most other pizza places.
The Greek was loaded with banana peppers, tomatoes, olives and feta for $4.95 and the White pizza had the usual ricotta, feta, spinach, garlic and mushrooms but for only $3.95. The Buffalo Chicken was less spicy than expected but still delicious, especially for $4.95.
The Margherita with tomatoes, basil and garlic was not as well received as our other selections, perhaps because the lack of sauce made the toppings seem overcooked and rather bland. Other choices include the Mighty Meat, the Aloha and a Barbecue Chicken, all for similar prices.

My selection was a calzone of my own design, an excellent deal at $3.95 plus a dollar per topping. I chose bacon, sausage and banana peppers and enjoyed it tremendously. If I were to do it again, I might choose extra cheese to smooth the gap between the salty bacon and the vinegary peppers.
The pastas were not as enjoyable. The Chicken Alfredo was a bit bland but would be great for kids. The same was true for the Spaghetti and Meatballs -- the homemade meatballs were good, but the sauce was too sweet. Family size portions are available for $19.95.
Chevy’s also offers subs and salads for reasonable prices. They offer special deals like two large one-topping pizzas for only $19.95; a family special of one large specialty pizza, one large one-topping pizza and a half gallon of tea for $24.95; and the party special consisting of two large specialty pizzas, an order of cinnamon sticks, an order of cheesy sticks and a half-gallon of tea for $38.95. They also have half-price toppings on their 8-inch pizzas on Tuesdays.
If you live in Gray and haven’t gone to Chevy’s yet, you should definitely try it. It might even be worth a drive for anyone living within a 30- or 40-mile radius. The waitstaff is friendly, the service is quick -- even with large groups -- and the price is most definitely right.
