Everclear frontman Art Alexakis shares song, stories with Macon

Embarking on a solo tour, Art Alexakis, frontman of Everclear, will be appearing Friday at the Cox Capitol Theatre for “An Evening of Songs and Stories.”

“It’s a very stripped-down kind of show, kind of a laid-back tour,” said Roger Riddle, marketing manager for the Moonhanger Group, which manages the theater. “The story of Art is the story of Everclear. He will be doing the music he wrote with Everclear, talking about stories from his life and weaving together how those stories influenced the songs.”

Everclear formed in Portland in the early 1990s and is known for hits such as “Santa Monica,” “Everything to Everyone,” “I Will Buy You a New Life” and “Father of Mine.” Their most recent release is the album “Black is the New Black,” released in April.

“For a lot of people, this is the music of their youth, a lot of the young professionals here connect with this music. For those who maybe admired the band when they were a bit younger, the show should be a lot of fun,” Riddle said.
