The Douglass Theatre’s Jazz in the Courtyard series returns Sunday with the Ken Trimmins Jazz Quartet.
“They made such a splash last year, so we invited them back,” said Gina Ward, director of the Douglass.
Now in its fifth year, Ward said the series has grown every year.
“We had a very successful year last year, and we expect good crowds again. We may have to set out more chairs,” she said with a laugh.
Guests are invited to bring snacks and their own chairs, if desired. Concessions will be available inside the theater as well. In the event of rain, the concerts will be held in the theater’s annex space.
The series continues June 28 with Oscar Jackson and Friends and July 26 with the GQ Jazz Quintet.
“All of the bands this year are local,” Ward said. “In the past, we have brought in artists from other places, but this year we are showcasing our local jazz musicians.”
