FRIDAY AT BILLY’S CLUBHOUSE
The last time the Matt Brantley Band played Billy’s Clubhouse they won over the crowd. This young band plays a great mixture of country, Southern rock and classic rock, and more than anything else, they have fun playing it. It shows, and we love it. Free admission. 21 and up. Music starts at 10 p.m.
FRIDAY AT THE LIBRARY BALLROOM
We haven’t seen Caroline Aiken perform in Macon in quite some time. Her folk, blues and country style was a favorite here in Macon. She makes her return to the beautiful Library Ballroom in downtown Macon for her CD release party. Her new album is titled “Broken Wings Heal.” Tickets are $15. All ages welcome. Music starts at 8 p.m.
SATURDAY AT COX CAPITOL THEATRE
Sometimes you hear a voice and you’re hooked. When it comes to Lake Street Dive, for most of us that moment was when we saw a video of them performing the Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back” on a street corner in Boston. Their soulful sounds have made them a “must see” band all across the nation. Their first performance in Macon is sure to be special. They will be joined by The Congress, who are another band you should definitely keep an eye on. Tickets are $25 at the door. Doors open at 7 p.m. Those younger than 18 must be accompanied by a guardian.THURSDAY AT THE HUMMINGBIRD
The Dirty Doves were a favorite at The Hangar. It’s good to see the Doves spreading their wings and still playing their ‘70s psychedelic, blues-influenced sound. The band consists of Ben Cummings on vocals and guitar, Jarvis Arline on drums, Zack Matthews, also on guitar and vocals, and Dustin Murdock on bass. Admission is free. 18 and up. Music starts at 10 p.m.
THURSDAY AT COX CAPITOL THEATRE
The SteelDrivers have been nominated for three Grammy Awards. They’ve performed in movies and been on soundtracks for movies. They have played the Grand Ole Opry and even made an appearance on the Conan O’Brien show. With all of that, this Nashville-based band still finds time to tour. Fans of their bluegrass and country sound have been patiently waiting for another Macon performance. They will be joined by a special Honeycutters trio performance. Tickets are $18 in advance and $23 day of show.
