The Macon Symphony Youth Orchestra’s current season closes at the end of this month, but you can hear some of their emerging musicians on two stages in the very near future.
To cap off the 2014-2015 season, the Macon Symphony Youth Orchestra (MSYO) will perform its sixth annual Kaleidoscope Concert, which features the full orchestra, string orchestra, chamber ensembles and the recent winners of the scholarship competition.
This annual special event highlights the very best of the Middle Georgia area’s talented young musicians, with MSYO sponsored ensembles, student-led groups, soloists and more.
The MYSO will present two different performances of the Kaleidoscope Concert, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday at Fickling Hall in the McCorkle Music Building on the Mercer University campus.
Also, the MYSO chamber ensembles and soloists will be the featured musicians at this month’s Music and the Arts program at Vineville United Methodist Church. This concert will be performed at 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon. Be aware that if you miss either of these concerts this weekend, you won’t be able to see the MYSO perform again until late August, when their new season begins.

The group’s website, www.maconyouthorchestra.org, is a wealth of background information, including news, a photo and video gallery, a musicians’ roster, and information about how to audition for the orchestra.
