Twenty-eight students competed Friday in the Houston County Spelling Bee in Perry. Kushagra Biswas spelled macadamia to win the competition. The runner-up was Matthew Amerson, who will move on with Biswas to compete in the next round. Biswas said he mastered 240 words in preparation for the event and thanked his friends, parents and teachers for helping him study.
