About 78,000 cubic yards of debris have been removed from unincorporated Bibb County rights of way since a private company took over storm cleanup two weeks ago, an official said Tuesday.
Crowder Disaster Recovery, the contractor hired for the job, has completed its first pass through the unincorporated area and will take the weekend off to give time for residents to move additional debris to the curb, Commission Chairman Charlie Bishop said.
It's critical that debris is placed in the right of way because Crowder cannot go onto private property, he said. Residents also must be aware that if the debris is not related to the Mother's Day storm, then Crowder cannot haul it away, he said.
Anyone who would like to volunteer to help residents unable to move their debris to the curb, may call 978-1376 for more information. The Bibb County Web site, www.co.bibb.ga.us, lists the approximate times and locations storm debris removal crews will be in the area.
