Ready for a shootout?: Georgia Tech has dropped two straight games on the road, losing in convincing fashion to Notre Dame and Duke (34-20 on Saturday). The Yellow Jackets (2-2, 0-1 ACC) will try to get back on track against North Carolina this week at home. The two teams have combined for an average of 74.8 points per game in their past five meetings. North Carolina won 48-43 last year to snap a five-game losing streak in the series.
Back on track: North Carolina has won three straight games since losing its opener to South Carolina. The Tar Heels’ game at Georgia Tech marks their ACC opener.
Hokies’ struggles continue: Virginia Tech’s recent struggles returned i n full force with a loss to East Carolina, which has had the Hokies’ number in recent seasons. Virginia Tech hosts Pittsburgh this week in the ACC opener for both teams.
Back to work: Clemson was off last week, but it returns to the field Saturday in one of the week’s marquee games: at home against Notre Dame. The Tigers and Irish have split a pair of games, in the 1970s, with each team winning on the road.
Back to work, II: Florida State also was off after beating Boston College in its ACC opener. The Seminoles stay in conference play with a trip to Wake Forest.
