Mercer athletics director Jim Cole announced Wednesday that women’s soccer head coach Tony Economopoulos has agreed to a four-year contract extension that runs through 2019.
Economopoulos has led Mercer to a 37-19-8 record during the past three seasons, including a program-record 14 wins in 2014. The Bears also won the Southern Conference tournament in their first season in the conference and advanced to the NCAA tournament for the second time in program history.
“I couldn’t be more thankful and appreciative for the extension,” Economopoulos said. “My family and I are thrilled to continue to call Mercer University home. I would like to thank President (Bill) Underwood and Jim Cole for their confidence in my ability to lead the Mercer Women’s Soccer program. It has been a most enjoyable three years for me personally and professionally, and we look forward to the future with great optimism.”
