Macon native and former Mount de Sales standout Chris Hatcher was named Monday as one of 10 inductees into the inaugural class for the Gulf South Conference Hall of Fame.
Hatcher made his mark in the conference as a player and coach at Valdosta State.
He set 13 Gulf South records and 17 NCAA Division II records during his time as the Blazers' quarterback in the early 1990s. He was a two-time All-American and won the 1994 Harlon Hill Trophy, which is awarded to the top player in Division II. Hatcher was also the 1994 CoSIDA Academic All-America Player of the Year in 1994.
Hatcher returned to his alma mater as its head coach and racked up a 76-12 record in seven seasons. He led the Blazers to three conference championships and the 2004 NCAA Division II national championship. He is the conference's all-time leader in winning percentage (.864), while ranking fifth all-time in wins (76).

Hatcher also coached at Georgia Southern and is currently the head coach at Murray State.
