Former FPD standout and Valdosta State senior softball player Morgan Johnson has been named the
Gulf South Conference's Women's Commissioner Trophy winner as the conference's top female student-athlete.
Johnson was named the winner at the conference's awards banquet Monday, the second straight year she has won the award. Johnson is
just the sixth student-athlete in the 38-year history of the honor to win it in consecutive years, and she is the third Blazers athlete to do so. Former Mount de Sales standout Chris Hatcher won the award in
1994 and 1995 as the Blazers' quarterback.
Johnson batted .374, with 67 hits in 179 at-bats this season with 17 doubles, two triples and 12 home runs. She had 49 RBI and scored 55 runs.
Johnson graduated in May with a GPA of 3.69 in Nursing, and she earned Academic All-Gulf South honors for the second straight year.
