For the first time in its history, CFCA will play a night football game on its own campus.
Thanks to an athletics facility project launched in the spring, the GICAA member school now has a football field and track lit for night play. CFCA, which is in its 45th year of operation and is playing an eight-man schedule this year, hosts New Creation on Friday.
"There's a lot of buzz around the school," athletics director Josh McLendon said. "We've added a lot of students, and a lot of that has to do with the sports complex."
As part of the project, the field was resodded with Bermuda grass. A press box and fencing are still under construction.
New Creation was added to the schedule earlier this month when Covington Christian wasn't able to field a team.
Prior to this year, CFCA either played day games or rented other fields. Last year, CFCA played its home games at Crawford County.
