John Milledge senior Kate Giddens signed a softball scholarship with Illinois on Wednesday.
Giddens is a two-time all-state GISA selection. She hit .342 with two home runs as a senior.
"Her athletic and academic talent as well as her hard work ethic makes her the competitor that every coach wants on their team,” JMA head coach Kori Pickowitz told Illinois sports information.
Giddens also plays travel ball for EC Bullet Gold. She hit .314 with 12 home runs in 2013.
She becomes the first JMA softball player to sign a major college scholarship since Telegraph Athlete of the Year M.A. Linch signed with Miami (Ohio) in 2005.
