Parking on campus could be problematic this Saturday.
With the University of Georgia experiencing a lot of rain early this week, and with more rain expected to arrive, there will be no parking on the natural turf intramural fields off of College Station Rd. for this Saturday's game against Alabama.
The university does not believe the fields could withstand the heavy auto and foot traffic that would accompany a game such as this. Therefore, the university is alerting fans attending the game to expect traffic delays and to consider parking alternatives. Without this option, roughly 2,000 parking spots on campus are lost.
To accommodate fans with tickets, the university has arranged for them to ride the Athens Transit Systems buses free of charge.
Never miss a local story.
More announcements could be on the way as the university has yet to decide whether it will close certain tailgating areas due to the weather.
