ATHENS - Another week, another SEC offensive player of the week award for a Georgia player.
Senior quarterback Aaron Murray received the honor on Monday after passing for 309 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions in Georgia's 41-30 win over South Carolina. Sophomore tailback Todd Gurley got the honor last week.
Murray was also named the national offensive player of the week by the Walter Camp foundation on Sunday.
Murray now ranks second in career total offense at Georgia, with 10,907. He has passed for at least four touchdowns nine different times in his career.
North Texas kickoff announced
Georgia's third game is lower-profile, and therefore that's also the case for the television and kickoff time.
North Texas' visit to Sanford Stadium on Sept. 21 will kick off at 12:21 p.m. and be broadcast on SEC TV. (Consult your local cable provider.)
This will be the first-ever meeting between the Bulldogs and the Mean Green, a member of the Sun Belt Conference. The Mean Green are 1-1 this season, after opening with a 40-6 home win over Idaho, and then falling last week 27-21 at Ohio. They host Ball State this Saturday, while Georgia is on a bye.
The kickoff for the LSU-Georgia game on Sept. 28 is scheduled to be announced next Monday. It has a good chance of being selected by CBS for its 3:30 p.m. slot: Both teams are currently ranked in the top 10, and the other potential big game that day is Ole Miss at Alabama. There is also Texas A&M at Arkansas.
