ATHENS - Cameron Forte, a 6-foot-7 junior college prospect, apparently will be the final member of the Georgia men's basketball team's roster for next season.
Forte, a native of Tempe, Arizona, tweeted on Sunday that he had just committed to Georgia. He is expected to sign shortly with the Bulldogs, making him the 13th scholarship member of next year's team.
It's the second commit for Georgia over the past week, and the fourth for this class. Small forward Kenny Paul Geno, a high school prospect from Mississippi, signed last week, while point guard J.J. Frazier and shooting guard Juwan Parker signed during the fall signing period.
Forte played this past season season at Howard Community College in Texas, where he averaged 22.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.
Forte was a freshman at Texas Tech, under then-head coach Billy Gillispie, but Forte never played and decided to transfer that December. Then Forte at first transferred to Northern Arizona, but never played a game there, instead transferring to junior college so he could play right away.
In Forte and Geno, it appears Georgia spent the late signing period trying to find players who can score, after the departure of star Kentavious Caldwel-Pope.
As a high school senior, Forte averaged 36.2 points and 12.7 rebounds per game, leading the state of Arizona in both categories. His profile on the Texas Tech web site stated that Forte was also recruited by Washington, Texas, Colorado, Seton Hall, Saint Mary's and several other mid-majors.
