Super Bowl winning football coach Mike Ditka will speak at Mercer prior to the Bears’ season-opening game on Aug. 28.
The former Bears head coach will speak at a luncheon in conjunction with Mercer and the 100 Black Men of Macon-Middle Georgia and the Motivating Youth Foundation.
The Bears open the season later that night against Reinhardt at 7 p.m. Dikta, who was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a tight end, will serve as an honorary captain for the game.
Ditka currently works as a NFL analyst for ESPN.
“We are honored to host one of the greatest names in football here at Mercer University,” Mercer athletics director Jim Cole said. “Mike Ditka has been an important figure in the NFL for years and will provide our student-athletes with great insights on the type of attitude and commitment that builds success.”
Tickets for the event go on sale through Mercer beginning July 28. Individual tickets are $125, while tables for 10 are priced at $1,000.
