The Mercer men’s soccer team finished the regular season with a dominate 7-0 performance against VMI. Mercer finished the season 6-8-4 overall.
The match was the Bears strongest outing all season and the team hopes it can continue in that form in the SoCon tournament.
Leonel Toledo Jr., Jake Mezei, Robert Arteaga, Will Bagrou and Trenton Whitely each scored one goal against VMI and Connor Antley scored twice.
Will Bagrou finished the regular season leading conference players in goals with 11 all season and Leonel Toldeo Jr. tied for the lead in assists with six all season.

Mercer will host Wofford Saturday in a win-or-go-home match in the first round of the SoCon Tournament. If the Bears win, they will go on to play top seeded ETSU in Tennessee on Nov. 10.
Women’s soccer season concludes with tourney knockout
The women’s soccer season came to an end with the team being knocked out by Samford in the second round of the Southern Conference Tournament.
Mercer won its first tournament game 3-0 against The Citadel with goals by Ally Fordham, Karina Castillo and Logan Culver. Keeper Jordyn Ebert had five saves in the shutout.
Samford put out a strong performance in round two, winning 5-0, but the Bears still have a winning record in the SoCon Tournament since joining, sitting at 7-3. The Bears had another good season under Coach Tony Economopoulos at 10-10-1.
Valeria Bermeo finished the season leading the team in assists with six. Defender Megan Delmonico was named to the All-Conference second team.
Freshman Fordham finished her first year leading the team with six goals, earning her a spot on the SoCon All-Freshman Team, and freshman Ebert finished the season as the first-choice keeper; she had three shutouts and 92 saves.
