Georgia Ties: The Tigers nabbed three all-state players from Georgia, including Bleckley County safety Tavon Ross, North Gwinnett receiver Nate Brown and Buford athlete Thomas Wilson.
Three to watch:
Nate Brown, WR, 6-3, 210, Suwanee (North Gwinnett)
The all-state selection rebuffed a late offer from Georgia to stick with the Tigers.
Tavon Ross, DB, 6-1, 200, Cochran (Bleckley County)
Ross isn’t considered an elite prospect nationally, but the recruiting services have missed the boat on this safety. After his senior tape got out, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia and Miami offered.
Raymond Wingo, CB, 5-10, 175, St. Louis
The brother of former Arkansas running back Ronnie Wingo is a state champion sprinter in Missouri.
Grade: C, The Tigers’ class isn’t big on names, and you won’t find any five-star recruits headed to Columbia. But head coach Gary Pinkel has made some impressive in-roads in Georgia, an important recruiting ground if the Tigers want to remain near the top of the SEC East.
